My Story
I learned English on my own, through games, forums and too much time on the internet. That’s what got me into US healthcare in 2019, and I haven’t left since.
Five of those years were Workers’ Compensation: scheduling X-rays, MRIs and CT scans for injured workers, and chasing the referrals and authorizations that decide whether a procedure happens or gets denied. That job taught me the habit I still work by — verify before you book. A missing authorization isn’t a paperwork problem, it’s a patient who doesn’t get seen.
Today I handle front-desk support for a three-location optometry practice in New Jersey, as the only person on the team working from outside the office. That means I cover what the in-office desks can’t get to: 40 to 60 patient contacts a day, around 50 eligibility checks a week, intake, recalls, and the follow-ups nobody has time for.
Both languages, all day. When someone is worried about what their insurance covers, fluency isn’t the hard part — being clear is. I interpret between patients and providers as part of the job, not as a favor. I’m HIPAA trained, currently studying revenue cycle management (CPT, ICD-10, how a claim actually moves), and I use AI tools daily to learn new systems faster and keep my documentation clean.
